Role-play interview training (Police)?
My husband really wants to join the poice force. He has applied previously, but failed at the role-play stage. Before applying again we figured it’d be a really good idea if there was some way he could get some help/training in this area. Does anyone know of anywhere that does this (we are in Cardiff)?

I recently got selected and scored very highly in the role play stage. I went to classes organised by a retired sergeant. They were a little helpful. My previous job was similar to a Citizens Advice Bureau Officer. I had to interview tonnes of people every day and quickly diagnose their problems based on the often extremely vague information they offered. So I became very good at asking lots of open questions until I got enough info to tackle the problem.
Your hubby should know what to expect second time round since the scenarios dont change all that much. He should practice with you and he should definitely ask serving officers or other applicants he knows for help. My force gave all applicants very detailed feedback on their roleplay scores whether they passed or failed. So examine this and focus on weak areas.
Best tip is to ask as many open questions as possible and do not begin to tackle problem until you feel you have all info available. He also has to display particular qualities in his approach and solution e.g. diversity, resilience, customer focus, community relations etc.
Also tell him to remember those roleplays are not asking him to think or act like a cop. They usually ask you to take on the role of a manager in a civilian context. Some candidates go into these things thinking they are robocop and fail miserably.
I know guys who have applied 10 times. Tell him to keep at it.
